When performing a wellness exam at our animal clinic, we make sure that we don’t leave anything unchecked. While pets are adorable and have a variety of tricks, one thing that they are unable to do is to tell us if something is wrong. This is why our exams are incredibly comprehensive.
Our veterinarian, Dr. Garth, and her dedicated staff will gently and carefully examine your pet from nose to tail, looking for any irregularities or problems. This includes checking their oral health, eyes, ears, and lymph nodes, but it doesn’t stop there. Your pet’s skin and coat health will be evaluated, we will look at their muscles and joint movement, as well as listen to their heart and lungs. In general, the wellness exam is a health assessment that may also include blood tests, urinalysis, and parasite screening. If there is a problem, we will be able to stop or alleviate the symptom immediately. These exams should be performed annually, but as your pet gets older, it is highly recommended that they have one every 6 months to monitor changes and detect any early stages of disease.
